Housekeeper Position
Kamloops Hospice is a non-profit Association serving thousands of people and their families in Kamloops and the surrounding area impacted by terminal illness. Our mission is to be the Centre for Excellence for Hospice Care by delivering community programs, in-house patient care and bereavement support.
Term of Employment: Permanent
Hours of Employment: 7am – 2pm Monday to Friday
Job Description
The goal is to keep our building clean, sanitized and safe for patients, staff and families.
Duties
- Clean, stock and supply designated facility areas (dusting, wet-washing, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, patient and staff rooms, and shared common areas etc)
- Clean and disinfect washrooms and kitchen areas
- Strip and make beds; pick up soiled laundry and linens
- Clean and disinfect nursing stations and staff lunch rooms, meeting rooms etc.
- Clean and wet wipe High touch surfaces and furniture; Clean upholstered furniture and carpets by vacuuming, shampooing (as needed), and brushing
- Take out trash and water plants as needed
- Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs (ie. replacing light bulbs, broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.)
- Stock, monitor and maintain disposable supplies
- Cooperate with the rest of the staff
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Performs other related duties as assigned which could include heavy cleansing tasks and special projects
requirements - Proven working experience as a Cleaner or related/similar experience in a healthcare setting
- Takes pride in work and creating a clean/safe environment for patients and families
- Ability to handle cleaning equipment and tools
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies and safe handling
- High School Diploma
- Clean criminal record
- Will consider a candidate with a passion for hospice care and willingness to learn

- Ability to perform the requirements of the job which may include working independently
Working Conditions
- Lifting up to 30 lbs
- Ability to vigorously and physically move throughout shift
- On feet for entire shift

Salary: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
