The Kamloops Hospice Association is encouraging people to honour the memory of their loved ones this holiday season through the Celebrate a Life Campaign.

“Celebrate a Life is about remembering,” said Executive Director Wendy Marlow. “It started 28 years ago with this beautiful memory tree. It’s really a chance for people to come and write a memory card and celebrate the life that their loved one lived. You can turn a light from white to red, it just signifies that memory for the loved one.”

KAMLOOPS — As people in Kamloops get into the holiday spirit shoppers are encouraged to “Celebrate A Life” on their way through Northills Mall.

The annual event raises money for the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home. People are encouraged to donate what they can, then honour loved ones they’ve lost by decorating a memory tree.

Cassie’s Charity Drive 2022

Raised over $19,000 for Hospice and over 95 bags/boxes delivered to the Thrift Store! 

Thank you to Cassie and her family, our community of supporters, all of the donors to her silent auction and everyone who participated!

On December 1st …. The McNutt Family is lighting up their house again this year and have chosen to support Hospice!

5215 Dallas Drive. The community is welcome to come by their home to enjoy the lights and visit Santa when he is not in his workshop and able to be outside!

Cassie is a Grade 10 student and together with her family, they work hard to help charities in our community bring smiles and cheer to families in need. Hospice has been close to home for them as her grandfather, uncle and dad’s best friend all spent their last days there.

There are some different ways to support this incredible fundraiser…..

ONLINE Silent Auction and Monetary Donations

You are able to contribute funds that will directly support Hospice through this site as well.

Auction closes Monday December 20th at 9am.

 

HOSPICE WISH LIST

You can click here to visit our Wish List for a list of ideas of items that can be dropped off at the McNutt House during December.
Financially, Hospice’s greatest challenge is keeping up with the cost of food and household supplies. This can cost up to $1000 per week.  We always welcome and appreciate donations of items to help us feed and care for our patients.

 

FLUTTER BUYS THRIFT STORE

You can drop off accepted items at the McNutt home until December 20th.

Flutter Buys accepts gently used household items.  Particularly in need of:

  • Men’s Winter Jackets / Boots / Sweaters
  • Gently used clothing – mostly winter seasonal products
  • Does not accept mattresses / BBQs / large appliances / computers / TV / Children’s furniture (cribs / strollers / car seats etc.)
  • With hard goods we are diligent on no broken/cracked/damaged items

The holiday season for many is a time to pause and share memories of family and friends.  Celebrate a Life is an annual event that takes place each year during the month of December.  The event raises money for Kamloops Hospice Association.

Our volunteer crafters have been working hard over the past few months for this sale, we are excited to be able to present their creative talents through the online market while raising funds for Hospice!

$1 from the purchase of each signature cocktail during the Week of December 15-22nd will be donated to Hospice!
