Drive-thrus aren’t just for picking up a Big Mac, fries and a large Coke.
They’re also for supporting charities.
Giesbrecht & Associates IG Private Wealth Management is organizing a “stop, drop and donate” drive-thru event next month for the Kamloops Hospice Association.
The COVID-19 pandemic has meant a decrease in funds for the local non-profit. Its thrift store had to temporarily close and its annual gala had to be cancelled. “We know the hospice plays an incredible role in the community for everyone, doesn’t matter who you are,” says drive-thru organizer Marilyn Giesbrecht. “I know 250 some odd people come through their doors every year; that’s a lot of people so we want to makes sure that continues on.”
It’s also personal for Giesbrecht. She accessed hospice in 2011, when her husband had a three-week stay before he passed.
